The Bear Facts

We rely on the money we earn from what we sell and from people giving us donations.

Our costs are within the norms of high-end restaurant industry standards, reflecting the extreme quality of our offerings. 100% of the revenue that we earn covers food ingredients, supplies and the labor costs that we incur to make and serve the food. 100% of the donations we receive help us cover our operating expenses, like the lease, equipment rental, and utilities for example. Donations also help us expand employee training and invest in advertising campaigns to attract new customers, donors, and  partners.

The Blue Bears’ employees are paid at, or above, the legal NJ minimum wage–$14.13 per hour. Research from the U.S. Government Accountability Office shows that the average wage of a person with a disability working under a 14(c) certificate was less than $3.50 per hour, less than half of the federal minimum wage.

We believe our employees deserve to be paid a fair price for the work that they do.

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit restaurant–your donation is tax deductible.
